Spartacus Legends will be free-to-play

Ubisoft has announced that Spartacus Legends will be a free-to-play XBLA title.

This will be the first third-party entry in Microsoft’s recent free-to-play pilot program, with other titles including Ascend: New Gods and Happy Wars involved.

Spartacus Legends forces you to equip yourself for battle, as you engage in a blood-filled brawl involving just a weapon and shield. If you’ve seen the TV series, there’s a lot of blood and dying, which will carry across into the game – as once your gladiator dies, he dies forever.

The game is due out during Q1 2013.
