Capcom responds to Resident Evil 6 on disk DLC controversy

When YouTube user FluffyQuack uploaded videos detailing on disc DLC for Resident Evil 6, which contains a new difficulty setting, Capcom swooped in to give their side of the story.
While refusing to go into specifics, Capcom did confirm DLC is remaining on disc.
“We still have unannounced DLC for RE6 that will be revealed in the coming months and while virtually all such content will not be on the disc there will be one piece of content, that for technical reasons, requires the use of a combination of newly downloaded data and data that is included on the retail game disc,”
Capcom seem to have a running problem with DLC (I even reported on it a few months ago) but they maintain that it is for the good of the player.
This method will provide more flexible and efficient gameplay throughout the game’s lifecycle.
Is on disc DLC a necessary evil or companies just being cheap and lazy?
