Eurogamer Expo: Hands on with GRID 2

It’s been four years since GRID graced our Xbox 360′s I remember really enjoying my time with the game, other racers came and we eventually lost touch, now here it knocking at my door. As I jumped into the driving rig I was told there were two modes to play.

The first is a Street Racing stage set in Chicago, where muscle cars including the Camaro SS, Z06 Corvette and Boss Mustang prance through the windy city’s streets and tunnels, while the second would be a head-to-head, point-to-point duel between two Mustangs on a stretch of the California Coast section of the game.

First things first the game looks brilliant and the attention to detail was amazing, racing through Chicago whilst trains were flying past overhead, newspaper stands had papers flying past them as we flew past and the city itself just looked great. Codemasters have really being pushing their TrueFeel’ system, part of which is dropping all assists giving the each of the cars their own personal feel.

The handling in GRID always felt great and it still does the second time around, but more noticeable than the handling was the improved AI with over 60 different behavioural types meaning that each driver had their own personality and would react differently to you and your style of racing. I definitely enjoyed my time with the game and I’m looking forward to playing the full game when it releases.
