E3 2013 – Skylanders SWAP Force Impressions
My daughter turns one this week, her very first birthday and what do I want to get her? Well after seeing Skylanders SWAP Force I’m totally convinced that my angel wants… No, she needs this game, all I have to do is convince my wife that it’s for our little girl and not for me, wish me luck.
Coming to both Xbox One and Xbox 360, Skylanders SWAP Force is an update on the previous titles, the game features a ton of new mechanics and abilities including flying, climbing, digging, bouncing, teleporting and jumping. The graphics engine has also been revamped bringing in full-HD quality at 1080p but the biggest change has come in the form of the new swappable characters.
There are 16 new SWAP Force characters including Night Shift, Free Ranger and Freeze Blade, with these new characters you can mix and match the figures creating new characters such as Night Blade or Free Shift. There over 250 combinations you can create with the 16 new SWAP Force characters. The game will also feature 16 new Core Skylanders, 8 LightCore Skylanders and 16 new versions of earlier Skylanders. Most of the characters will stay priced at £8.99 ($9.99) but the new SWAP Force characters will be priced at around £13.99 ($14.99), a little more expensive but you’re unlocking further characters so it’s more value for money.
During my developer session I really grew to love this title having never experienced Skylanders before so I can certainly say that this title is one to watch. Skylanders SWAP Force is due for release on 13th October in the US and 18th October in the UK.
