Who fancies looping the loop in a Supermarine Spitfire to line up the Messerschmitt 109 and drop Jerry out of the sky? Me, as it happens. Especially as I’ve just attended the local airshow with all of that going on.
Now, thanks to City Interactive, I can do just that. Grab your flight suit, download Dogfight 1942 and clamber into your prop-driven weapon of choice.
You get a wide choice of 40 aircraft, from the aforementioned Spitfire and Messerschmitt 109 to the legendary P-38 Lightning and the less formidable sounding Japanese Kate. You can use these to fly WWII style missions in the single-player mode that include head-to-head combat, huge aerial battles, bombing runs and manning the defences.
If you prefer, phone a friend and choose one of the three multi-player modes to go dizzy over. Dogfight mode is a straight up head-to-head to find out who flies the best. Survival mode sees you and your wingman encounter waves of enemies. Campaign co-op mode sees you team up with your wingman to complete Axis alliance missions.
While missing the obvious joke about Biggles, you can pick up Dogfight 1942 now on XBLA for 1200 MS Points, and at a massive 1.9GB, there’s a lot of game for your money.
There’s a taster of the action below, chocks away chaps!
