World of Tanks creator buys FEAR 3 developer

Wargaming, the creator of PC title World of Tanks has announced that it has acquired Day 1 Studios, the developers behind FEAR 3 and Fracture.

Wargaming CEO Victor Kislyi confirmed that the studio are working on an unannounced console title:

“The move into console game development is a huge step for Wargaming, as we begin to expand our presence into new platforms. We are looking forward to sharing the fruits of our labour soon.”

Despite the title not being announced, Head of Wargaming’s new studio, Denny Thorley hinted that it might be free-to-play, which would align nicely with titles such as Happy Wars and Spartacus Legends.

“Wargaming is a clear leader in the free-to-play space and helps set the standard on which all other games in the genre strive for. Our team is extremely excited to start the first console project for Wargaming.”

It would be nice to have a larger collection of free-to-play games on the Xbox 360, especially if expanded upon the existing genre of games.
