Spiders and Focus Home Interactive announce new Mars-based RPG

If there’s a Sci-Fi RPG-sized hole left in your life since the excellent Mass Effect series has come to an end then Spiders and Focus Home Interactive could just be able to scratch that itch with Mars: War Logs.

Taking place on the Red Planet over a century after a catastrophic event that threw the planet and its colonists into chaos, players jump into the dusty red boots of the brilliantly-named Roy Temperance, a multi-talented renegade caught up in the struggle between rival companies attempting to control the planet’s now most-valuable resource: water.

Mars: War Logs features all the usual RPG trappings like Skill Trees, Perks, Crafting, branching dialogue options and real-time combat, but considering the “Cyberpunk” RPG is set on a predominantly terracotta planet we’re hoping the French developers are going to throw in enough environmental changes in order to keep things fresh.

There’s no word on a release date or whether the game will be of a third or first-person bent, but Spiders are making big noises about the fact that Mars: Wars Logs uses their brand-new Silk Engine – if you’re at Gamescom this week then head on over to Stand I-050a in Hall 4.2 where Focus Interactive will be showing off the title’s wares.
