While it is unlikely that we will see another Halo Wars game anytime soon, it seems its spirit may live on in the form of a new Halo game called Spartan Assault. Unfortunately for those without a device running Windows 8 the only top down Halo fun you’ll be having is by continuing to play Halo Wars on the 360!
Available this July Halo: Spartan Assault is more of a top down action shooter than RTS but that doesn’t mean it’s any less fun – at least that’s by the look of the trailer below. The game is set between the events of “Halo 3” and “Halo 4, and will explore the first missions of the Spartan Ops programme diving deeper into the back story of the Human-Covenant wars. With 25 missions to ‘assault’ you can play the game as either Commander Sarah Palmer or Spartan Davis stationed aboard the UNSC Infinity as they fight in never-before-seen battles against Covenant forces.
To coincide with this new title 343 Industries have teamed up with Dark Horse Comics to create Halo: Initiation, a three-part comic series which reveals the story of how Commander Sarah Palmer became a Spartan-IV and leads directly into the exciting missions of Halo: Spartan Assault.
