Sam & Max celebrate 25 years in the business with a birthday sale

Sam & Max (aka the Freelance Police) are celebrating their 25th anniversary with a sale on Xbox Live Arcade.

The cartoon dog and “hyperkinectic rabbity thing” first appeared as a comic book series back in the late 80′s, with then-developing powerhouse LucasArts dropping the point and click adventure classic Sam & Max Hit The Road in 1993.

Widely regarded by those who remember it (myself included) as being one of the key titles of the genre alongside other LucasArts classics like Day of the Tentacle and The Secret of Monkey Island, Telltale Games picked up the franchise in 2009 with the excellent Sam & Max Save The World, an episodic series of six PC games that were eventually released together on Xbox Live Arcade.

A second collection (Sam & Max Beyond Time and Space) released three months later, and Telltale Games are offering both collections up for the reduced price of 800MSP apiece – 50% off the not unreasonable normal asking price of 1600MSP each.
