Namco Bandai launch “We Are Tekken” Instagram exhibition

If photographic artistry is your thing then you’ll be pleased to know that Namco Bandai are installing a new Tekken-based Instagram exhibition into a gallery in Shoreditch – London’s ‘Creative Capital’ (apparently).
Entitled “We Are Tekken”, the developer is encouraging wannabe David Baileys to use the Instagram service to upload photos of what Tekken means to them – whether it be a friend screaming during a game, a Tekken-inspired haircut or even a piece of architecture that looks a bit “Tekken-ey”, if it screams Tekken to you then Namco Bandai wants to see it.
The chosen pics will go up on display alongside artwork from graf legend Inkie – who worked as SEGA’s head of creative design during the Jet Set Radio period – and rock n roll artist Vince Ray, who will both pick the very best entry.
Everyone who gets their work included in the exhibition will be invited to the exclusive opening party, with the top “winner” earning themselves the huge Tekken prize pack, which includes the ‘We are Tekken’ edition of the game, a Kotobukiya Yoshimitsu statue (limited to 500), a ‘We are Tekken’ gamer shirt, a Tekken Tag Tournament 2 bowling bag and Vince Ray’s, Anna Williams poster signed by Harada-san.
“We are genuinely excited to be creating this competition and to see the varying range of images that inspire our global Tekken fan base,” said Lee Kirton, UK Marketing & PR Director for Namco Bandai, “this is a first for the gaming world and opens videogames to a wider audience. Instagram has become such a popular medium for people to share images and their lives in general that we felt this will be the perfect way for our community to connect and show what Tekken means to them.”
The We Are Tekken exhibition runs from the 13th – 15th September at a currently undisclosed venue. Entries into the competition will be accepted throughout August 2012, and should be uploaded to Instagram using #WEARETEKKEN or #TTT2.
