More Mass Effect 3 content for multiplayer

Bioware have announced on their twitter that the Collectors are returning, as a new enemy in the multiplayer mode.
The content also comes with new characters and weapons.
An intriguing moment comes at the end of the trailer as Harbinger himself shows up. Is this simply for dramatic effect or is he involved in certain maps somehow?
The Collectors will return on 9th October and will be free.
