Mass Effect 3 getting “massive patch”

Producer Michael Gamble took to his Twitter account yesterday to announce a patch of epic proportions which will hit on Thursday 4th October.

While the patch is mostly to deal with console specific issues plus the occasional bug, he also hints towards the future of the Mass Effect franchise.

We’ll be patching me3 on Thursday. It will be our largest patch, and has been in dev. for months. It also sets us up for future…things :)

Community manager Chris Priestly, however, exercised caution by saying that “the studio will update when it has more information.”

Is it even a good time for this patch? I’m not just saying this because I only recently (read: this morning) finished the game on insanity, but don’t patches like this usually come right after release? How many Mass Effect obsessed players like me can there be out there who are still playing the single player campaign?

Although, does the promise of setting up future events intrigue people?
