Kinect title Ryse still in the works

First-person combat title Ryse is still in the works, corporate VP of Microsoft Studios, Phil Spencer has confirmed.

Originally announced at last year’s E3 event, Crytek’s game has gone under the radar ever since its initial reveal.

Phil Spencer said:

“We’re just not at a point right now to show the game, and instead of … we’re still working with Crytek, we’re still extremely committed to the relationship, but we want to make sure that we’re putting our best foot forward every time we show the game. You’ll see more about that game, no doubt.”

He also confirmed that the game will still use Kinect:

“Kinect will be part of the game, absolutely.”

So what is actually happening with Ryse? Well, it was rumoured that the ownership had switched studios from Crytek Budapest to Crytek Frankfurt. No factual details emerged from this rumour, so we can assume the Budapest-based studio are still working on it. The game may have also evolved into a controller-based game, rather than it being a kinect exclusive title.
