Final Fantasy Versus XIII is one of those titles that has been trapped in development hell for quite some time. Everyone wants to see it, but having been locked in development for so long, it’s missed a vast amount of deadlines, changed console exclusivity and console generation.
Now however, it may be time for us to see more (finally) and according to game director Tetsuya Nomura, the next reveal date is already set, with everyone at Square Enix gearing up for the event.
Speaking on Square Enix Merchandise Radio, Nomura revealed that details were coming but warned that Versus XIII has become a rather sensitive subject within the company.
“It’s a delicate situation within the company, The date for our next reveal is set and we are working toward preparing information for that. Perhaps the details as to why information couldn’t be released might be touched upon with the next information announcement.”
So while nothing new has been revealed just yet, Square are ready to talk about the project which is encouraging news for sure.
Since Versus XIII began hitting trouble, rumours circled around the industry for a long time, with the latest suggesting that the title has shifted to next-gen consoles (again) while also possibly having a title change to Final Fantasy XV.
Final Fantasy news has been promised for E3, so hopefully all will be revealed very soon.
So what do you think? Does the fact that Nomura quotes Versus XIII a sensitive subject suggest a re-branding or title change? Or are you just glad to hear that the game hasn’t been scrapped?
