ESPN will NOT be coming to Europe

We posted during E3 that ESPN will be coming to the Xbox 360, free for Gold members and will feature Kinect integration as well as thousands of live and on demand sporting events.

Unfortunately, this doesn’t seem to be hitting our shores anytime soon according to AceyBongos, European Community Manager, via Twitter:

Hey all – got word on ESPN on LIVE overnight – it’s planned for US only at launch and I don’t have any further info on availability, sorry

There may still be hope, but personally I’m not counting on it. If it DID come over to the UK, would you use it, or would you just stick to Sky Player?

    I am pretty positive that it will come over to europe. Simply cause Walt Disney/ESPN allready have all those licenses in europe that would be needed for it.

    If it starts on november in the us, i would say around march in europe

    I'm from the UK and I don't have skyplayer on my xbox 360 because i'm not going to pay like £45 a month because i have virgin media so i don't get skyplayer for free, so it would help alot if the UK got the ESPN feature.

      You do get some programmes on Sky Player for free, and it's free to set up a Sky Player account.

      Be happy you have Skyplayer and Last FM and all that s***t Cuz in Belgium there is jack-Sh*t in here our Dashbord is freaking empty… i think im gonna move to a PS3 i aint gonna pay 60 euro's for only online stuff.

    I would watch and enjoy it too. Looks an interesting application; already pay for SKY and get crappy ESPN channels but its a shame XBOX are so narrow minded and scared to open up their hardware in a way that really enthuses the consumer.
    Best console for what it offers but only because its cheap, they themselves are cheap with what they offer and how they offer it; shrewd and business minded throughout and the consumer does lose out.
