DiRT Showdown launch night – May 24th
Last night saw both the london heats and grand final of the DiRT SHOWDOWN regionals along with the official launch party, giving gamers a chance to mingle and battle it out in this great multiplayer racer.
Sponsored by Monster, the night kicked off with a DJ set from the mighty Christian Stephenson (DiRTs soundtrack consultant and voice over talent) who filled the night with some laughs and tunes before setting up for the london heats of the regional competition.
Anyone was able to enter (yes i threw my hat into the ring!) and after 4 knockout rounds of 8 ball, which I myself could only handle two rounds of (sorry team I let us down), Dean Lane was crowned the london regional champion, this meant one race was left, one chance to be crowned UK champion. For the grand final Dean went up against Gregg Williams (Birminghams regional champ) in a match of 3 disciplines!
Starting with a tense round of 8 ball, Dean came out on top leaving Gregg with one chance to get back in running, unfortunately for Gregg a tough round of demolition derby got the better of him leaving Dean to be crowned DiRT UK champion!
After what was an enjoyable and tense competition, “Eighteen nightmares at the lux” played a short set before a DJ set from Rampage to wrap up. Good times!
DiRT Showdown has now officially hit the stores, from the time I had with the game it is a definite must for anyone looking for a decent multiplayer romp with mates, especially considering the split screen, which in my mind has been slowly slipping away from multiplayer in favour of exclusive online only play for far too long.
Go ahead give it a go, you’ll enjoy the mayhem and just how unpredictable it can be.
