Aim for the crotch with Foul Play from Mediatonic

It’s not very often you get to write a news piece with a heading based around aiming for someone’s nether-regions, but with MediaTonic’s forthcoming XBLA brawler ‘FOUL PLAY: The Perilious and ENTIRELY ACCURATE adventures of Baron Dashforth!’ (actual title) it looks as if there’s going to be a fair bit of pant-based pummelings.

Foul Play is a theatre-based, side-scrolling beat ‘em up that sees you take on the mantle of the Victorian daemon hunter Baron Dashforth, who recounts his tales of adventure and derring-do to the audience whilst smashing his way through thousands of wildly costumed extras.

“Baron Dashforth is like James Bond crossed with Baron Munchausen, except set in the late Victorian era, and he fights daemons instead of evil dudes, and I don’t THINK James Bond ever put on a play… and everything he claims to have happened is true. Probably.” claims Creative Producer Jeff Tanton “It’s this incredible fusion of arcade brawler, crowd-pleasing mechanics, over-the-top characters, and unique setting that’ll make Foul Play so much fun – working on the Xbox LIVE Arcade platform for the first time is very exciting, we’re getting to throw a whole bunch of awesome stuff into the mix that just wouldn’t have been possible before!”

“As a studio, we’re focused on creating digital games that are packed full of life and character. We invest a lot of time in building worlds and stories that extend beyond the games we create” said Paul Croft, Director of Games. “Foul Play felt like the perfect fit for Xbox LIVE Arcade and we’re SUPER excited to be bringing it to life on the platform.”

He prefers third person action/adventure titles and RPG's, but will happily turn his hand to pretty much anything.

The character in the thumbnail looks like Karl Pilkington's cartoon character from The Ricky Gervais show. Thought I'd share :)
