Activision bins Guitar Hero, True Crime and lays off UK developers

An announcement is to be made shortly, according to Eurogamer, that Activision has binned the Guitar Hero series, alongside open world game True Crime that was in development by United Fronts.  UK developers of DJ Hero,  Freestyle Games, has been hit with ‘severe layoffs’.

The news comes in light of Activisions financial results which are due to land within the next few hours.  Activision also canned UK developers Bizarre Creations a few weeks ago after the poor sales of Blur.

Activision are now said to be concentrating on 3 major brands at the moment; Call of Duty, StarCraft and World of Warcraft.  We expect a press release to land soon, when it does we will publish the details.

Dislike, True Crime looked pretty good. Not too bothered about GH though. There are plenty of them out already.

My problem with GH games was you couldn't stack DLC from one game to another, rendering everything useless.. Rock Band done well with releasing tracks EVERY Tuesday and all DLC worked in all 3 games. GH Was doomed as soon as it started releasing yearly, oh and the fact it was Activision.

Gutted – I was actually looking forward to True Crime…
