38 Studios team dismissed, EA still has plans for Project Copernicus

The entire staff at 38 Studios (Kingdoms of Amalur) have been let go due to recent financial troubles and struggling to pay off loans.
Despite selling an impressive 1.2 million copies, the game reportedly needed to sell roughly 3 million units to pay off the debts.
The recently announced MMO based on the franchise (Project Copernicus) is still set for release, as EA still seems to have plans for the franchise.
The game industry as a whole seems to be rallying around the hundreds of now unemployed workers, some of whom have already been hired by other companies.
We’d also like to offer our condolences and wish the whole team the best of luck.
