NXE Release Date 10 October 2008 at 12:37 pm by Dave Burns

NXE (New Xbox Experience) has finally been given an official release date: 19th November 2008.  That’s going to be one very busy day on Xbox Live, we can’t wait to try out the new avatar system but we are secretly worried about the current media support and whether it will still be working the same.

+ Rumour: NXE Dashboard Update By Dave Burns 08 September 2008 at 2:01 pm and have No Comments

We we’re a bit dubious about posting this so we’re not going to go into depth.  Several rumours suggest that the NXE Dashboard Update is going to be released on 25th September backed up by a 5 hour countdown on TV.  We must point out that this is very much a rumour and we wish it to stay that way until an official announcement is made.  We were always told that NXE is due late November and Major Nelson confirmed this at PAX last week, so once again don’t go by what anyone says until we have official word.

The rumours also carry on with Microsoft giving away six free original xbox titles, and one of them is ‘confirmed’ to be Halo.  Several other items suggest that we have a ton of new content to buy as well as the announced updates.  Wait theres more… Apprantly a few new titles will be announced including Assassins Creed 2, Mass Effect 2 and a new Conker title.  All of this news seems very interesting but highly unlikly.. we wait to be proven wrong.

+ Dashboard Update: 6th August By Dave Burns 06 August 2008 at 2:20 pm and have No Comments

Dashboard Update

Todays new dashboard update is not implementing any new features into the dashboard.. Sorry folks!  We can’t deny that we we’re mystified about the update and we all secretly thought it might of been the NXE dashboard but sadly its only a network update according to Xbox’s Major Nelson.  Damn you  Microsoft for getting all of our hopes up!

+ Fallout 3 - 200 Endings? By Dave Burns 27 March 2008 at 10:36 am and have No Comments

Fallout 3
Okay so I know we reported a while ago that Fallout 3 will have 12 endings and be around half the size of Oblivion… This is wrong.  It has just been announced that Fallout 3 will now be roughly the same size as Oblivion, Have 200 possible endings all down to what choices you make within the game and will feature around 100 hours of game play.  The game is due for release in Autumn.

+ Turok - New Maps due today By Dave Burns 27 March 2008 at 10:15 am and have No Comments

Turok
The Velociraptor Pack will cost 400 Microsoft Points. The pack was designed to boost the Multiplayer side of the game, and judging by the Live Stats it certainly needs it!  The pack will include 5 maps, 2 of which are remakes and 1 is designed for co-op.  At Xboxer360 HQ were liking the price that accompanys this pack as most map packs contain 3-4maps and are priced at around 800 Microsoft Points.  Can we look forward to more cheaper map packs or is this priced low due to the games lack of players? Only time will tell.

+ Easter Playlist for Halo 3 By Dave Burns 06 March 2008 at 1:21 pm and have No Comments

Halo 3
Bungie have been very nice to us gamers and are releasing 2 new gametypes for 2 weekends to celebrate Easter.  Starting tonight at 8pm GMT till the same time on Monday night, you will be able to play Unranked Grifball, which is similar to rugby and involves 2 teams of 4 trying to take a ball into the enemies defence.  Bungie has changed the rules for this slightly but all will become clear when you play.

The other game type is called Team SWAT which was a popular mod from Halo 2.  This gametype starts on 20th March at 8pm GMT and will go through until 23rd at 8pm GMT.

Both gametypes will earn you Double Experience, so if that isn’t an excuse to play these mods then I don’t know what is!  Bungie have also made modifications to the Herioc DLC, full details can be located here.

+ Undertow: Expansion Announced By Falseywoo 03 March 2008 at 8:38 pm and have No Comments

Undertow

Over christmas XBL was ‘problematic’ and Microsoft gifted us all with a free download of Undertow to say sorry. Conviniently, Heres comes the expansion too.. Named Path of the Elect and weighing in at 400 MSPoints, the pack promises five levels in the single player campaign, a new race (the elect) as well as more multiplayer maps. The original was reasonably fun, so this expansion may well be worth a whirl.

The pack will be available on March 5th via XBL.

Halo 3

Some rather tasty news has been found in the weekly Bungie Update, The long awaited Halo 3 Auto-Update will be hitting us sometime next week. The main fix is to problems associated with melee troubles, which, we’ve all wanted to melee Bungie for at times…

In lesser news the Valentines Day Massacre playlist is only available for a few days longer so make sure you get some killing done before you run out of time!

+ Fallout 3: Smaller World than Oblivion By Dave Burns 15 February 2008 at 11:30 am and have No Comments

Fallout 3
Bethesda mouth Pete Hines has said Fallout 3 will have a much smaller game world than Oblivion - around 50 to 80 per cent of its size.

“The world is much smaller than Oblivion, but packed with stuff to do. We’ve never bothered to walk across the world, but it’s between 50 to 80 per cent of the size of Oblivion,” Hines told Gameplayer.

“One thing we did well in Oblivion was the relative distance between you and things to do in the world. Drop a ball on the map and there’s stuff to do within a certain distance. A world of endless space and meaningless walking is just not fun.”

It reinforces what he said last August - that Fallout 3 will be much more freeform than Oblivion and will revolve around good/evil choices, with nine to 12 different endings to suit various play styles.

He also revealed that the main quest will be about 20 hours long, with 20 hours of side-quests and a yet-to-be-determined amount of hours for miscellaneous quests. Unlike Oblivion, you will have to play through at least a couple of times to unlock all the Achievements, too .

Fallout 3 is a post-apocalyptic role-playing game that sees you exploring a world devastated by nuclear bombs and strange scientists.

Among its boasts are fancy graphics and a combat system where you queue up a string of attacks rather than standing there swinging your sword aimlessly for five minutes.

  • New Kill Cams
  • Host Migration
  • Improved Sniper/ACOG Accuracy
  • Upgraded Spectator Cam
  • Quick Mute Option

Out of all the new updates i’m looking forward to the Quick Mute and Sniper updates! What are you looking forward to most?
